About Dr Sasi Kiran Attili
I am a consultant dermatologist and dermatopathologist practising in Visakhapatnam, India.
I trained in dermatology in the United Kingdom and hold MRCP (Dermatology) and ICDP-UEMS qualifications. I have been practising clinical dermatology and dermatopathology in India for more than a decade.
I am Editor-in-Chief of the Indian Journal of Dermatopathology and Diagnostic Dermatology (IJDPDD) and am actively involved in dermatology teaching, research, scientific publishing and dermatopathology education.
Why I write this Substack
Much of modern dermatology and aesthetic medicine lies somewhere between established evidence, plausible biology, commercial promotion and expert opinion.
This publication examines that gap.
I write about dermatology, dermatopathology, hair disorders, aesthetic procedures, sunscreens, skin care and medical education, with particular emphasis on asking:
What does the evidence actually show?
How good is that evidence?
Does a statistically significant result translate into a clinically meaningful benefit?
Has a treatment been compared with an appropriate alternative?
Are commercial claims stronger than the underlying data justify?
The purpose is not to promote particular treatments or products, but to distinguish what we know reasonably well from what remains uncertain.
How articles are prepared
Articles are based wherever possible on primary research, systematic reviews, guidelines and other identifiable scientific sources. Important limitations, conflicts of interest and gaps in evidence are discussed when relevant.
Some articles also contain my interpretation based on clinical and dermatopathological experience. When evidence is uncertain, I try to make that uncertainty explicit rather than present opinion as established fact.
AI tools may occasionally assist with literature organisation, language or drafting. I review the scientific content, interpretation and final text and take responsibility for what is published.
